Asian Nativity

My kids and I love this nativity set! Every year I buy my kids a Lego brand advent calendar, but they are expensive and each day only comes with a small jumble of pieces and only a few people figures per calendar. I thought it would be better and more meaningful to find a lego nativity advent calendar that actually has something to do with the Christmas story (instead of avengers and Harry Potter) but alas, a religious lego set was not to be found. Then I came across the Brick ‘em Young “white” version and I was mildly interested (we are white), but when I saw that there was Asian and African nativities I was totally excited! (I think it would be even cooler if you made a middle eastern version, since the people in the nativity are actually middle eastern). I opened up the box and re-packaged the bricks in baggies to make my own advent calendar. At first the kids didn’t know what they were making, haha. When it became clear they were making a nativity they were excited, but they were really excited when they realized it wasn’t your basic white nativity set. I love the cultural nuances and details in the individual pieces and the very cool structure of the stable, complete with lanterns. You guys have great designers! My kids (who are Avatar fans) love it. I was also worried that the quality would be as good as the Lego brand, but I feel like it is even better. I’m so happy with this purchase and we will use this as an advent for years to come! Next year we will put together the African version. I’ll be on the lookout for the middle eastern version!

Rare to see an Asian nativity....and to build one with bricks is truly special. Will keep this for life as a treasure piece to our Christmas celebration.
